High-Assurance Systems,
Engineered from Bare Metal to Swarms
HF Labs (hflabs.dev) is an independent machine learning and systems research laboratory founded and led by Alix. We build high-performance computing libraries, sub-millisecond in-memory graph topologies, and the HyperSwarm multi-agent coordination ecosystem.
Alix
Operating as a solo builder and independent researcher, Alix has been self-taught in machine learning since 2020. Rather than following standard enterprise abstraction layers, the research path focused deeply on first-principles computing: hardware execution models, SIMD vector instruction sets, compile-time memory safety, and decentralized metaheuristics.
Starting in late 2024, Alix synthesized these research foundations into the current production-grade product and library suite that powers HF Labs today β bridging ultra-low-level Intel Level Zero GPU kernels with high-level multi-agent graph topologies.
Built & Run Off-Grid
A core part of the HF Labs founding narrative and ethos is physical and computational sovereignty: the research lab and its primary compute cluster run entirely on a self-built off-grid setup.
Powered by dedicated solar photovoltaic arrays, lithium-iron battery banks, and custom bare-metal servers, HF Labs operates independently of commercial utility grids and managed cloud monopolies. This physical reality directly informs our software architecture: zero unnecessary network hops, extreme energy efficiency, and deterministic in-memory execution.
The HyperSwarm Product Family
At the center of HF Labsβ research is HyperSwarm β a high-velocity coordination paradigm for multi-agent collectives, accompanied by specialized downstream toolchains for benchmarking, auto-tuning, and developer orchestration.
A decentralized multi-agent and swarm coordination framework. Employs bi-directional swarm sharding, emergent consensus protocols, and sub-millisecond inter-agent communication without external broker bottlenecks.
Rigorous benchmarking and empirical evaluation harness for multi-agent topologies. Measures communication overhead, convergence velocity, decision latency, and reasoning fidelity under synthetic failure modes.
Decentralized automated machine learning suite. Uses swarm metaheuristics for automated neural architecture search, hyperparameter optimization, and dynamic pipeline configuration across heterogeneous compute targets.
Developer-centric swarm orchestration environment. Integrates Roslyn AST semantic topology, continuous DAG task queues, and automated multi-agent code analysis to accelerate large-scale software refactoring.
Research & Engineering Timeline
From independent exploration to a full-stack high-assurance systems laboratory.
Self-Taught Machine Learning & Systems Foundations
Began deep-dive self-directed research into machine learning algorithms, distributed computing, heuristic optimization, and low-level systems programming.
Architecture & Library Suite Inception
Formalized HF Labs as an independent systems laboratory. Began active development of the core native library suite, SIMD vector primitives, LevelZero.NET interop, and in-memory graph engines.
HyperSwarm & Downstream Product Family
Pioneered HyperSwarm for multi-agent swarm coordination. Shipped Hypertensor GraphRAG, SwarmBench, Swarm AutoML, and Swarm Dev across open-core and high-assurance commercial tiers.
Guiding Principles of HF Labs
First-Principles Systems Engineering
We avoid bloated runtime abstractions. Every algorithm is profiled down to hardware cache lines, SIMD registers, and native GPU command queues.
Deterministic, In-Memory Cognition
AI agent memory belongs in high-throughput RAM graphs, not high-latency external relational networks. Sub-millisecond hops are the standard.
Physical & Digital Sovereignty
From our off-grid solar energy harvesting to our open-core codebase distribution, we build resilient systems that operate autonomously without vendor capture.
Rigorous Verification & Invariants
High-assurance systems require mathematical ground truth. We build formal invariant checkers, signed checkpoints, and deterministic benchmark harnesses.
